LIMALOA INSTITUTE
he KALAMA Foundation is beginning a new season. The season is called HO'OULU, to inspire. The second venture into the Season of Inspiration is the Limaloa Institute.
The Limaloa Institute is a multi-dimensional program which will begin an integration of the Hawaiian culture specifically HO'OMANA and traditional Hawaiian concepts of Health and Healing with the Western viewpoint and application of Health and Healing.
The first aspect of this program will be presented through the teachings of Hawaiian Spirituality, HO'OMANA. The Limaloa Institute is revealing a completely different style of teaching Hawaiian Spirituality. Many students want the information straightforward and concise. The Limaloa Institute conveys the information precisely that way. The Kumu of the Institute will present the classes in a lecture series format and not a talk story presentation. Seating will be in rows and in chairs. Classes will start and end precisely as posted. The HO'OMANA Classes will be first offered in Seattle then in the other established KALAMA Foundation sites. Check the Institute Calendar starting in September 2006.
The second aspect will be the addition of the services of a Kahuna La'au Lapa'au. Through the Limaloa Institute the services of a Kahuna will be made available to those in need of these services. The services will be explicit and understanding of these services will be made clear. There will be an initial meeting followed with a referral to an allopathic or naturopathic physician for a baseline physical examination then a Kahuna consult and an in-depth spiritual, physical and emotional review of the individual client. Information of this service will be made available to students in Halau O Limaloa and the Limaloa Institute and their friends. There will be Group Specific Informational Lectures. This service will only be offered in Seattle.
The third aspect will be a research component where Hawaiian Spiritual Health Guidelines can be used as an effective healing tool in Western and Eastern belief systems.
